In the light of the latest announcement by the Prime Minister on 16 March about Coronavirus, we have decided that the club is CLOSED until further notice – hopefully not too long. SO ALL GIGS ARE CANCELLED.
We are aiming to continue to offer contributions to the music, perhaps in a more online manner rather than a pure physical space.
This puts a pressure upon us. We are a not-for-profit organisation with rent and overheads to pay (especially staff) and we don’t want to let down the members of our community of amazing musicians, for whom the Vortex is a creative home. We have managed to survive by judicious ducking and diving for 30 years, but nothing as challenging as this.
You can make direct donations to the Vortex Foundation charity through our David Mossman Fund, buy t-shirts and mugs or download one of our fundraising tracks on Bandcamp. We are looking at every way to help keep going.
If you have already booked, we would be happy if, rather than take your money back, you were either to use it as a donation to keep the club afloat, or ask for a credit note for a future gig once we reopen.
