NEW IN JANUARY 2015
From January, the Sunday evening gigs will begin at 8, with doors opening at 7.30.
Other changes to some of our 'series'.
John Russell's long-running Mopomoso sessions will now be held in the afternoons of the third Sunday of the month. As many know, John himself will be unable to perform for a few months as he recovers from major heart surgery, but the programmes have his imprimatur! By the way, we have ourselves raised over £300 in donations to help John out from a bucket on the stage.
Lume will restart on 8 February with a night including the gorgeous Roland Ramanan Tentet.
Chaos Collective will start a monthly residency on Sundays starting on 22 February.
The London Jazz Orchestra continues its afternoon sessions as ever. These will be followed, from 11 January, by the band Thelonious playing Downstairs: the full oeuvre of Thelonious Monk will be performed over several months by a quartet of Hans Koller (playing valve trombone, not his trademark piano), Martin Speake, Calum Gourlay and Dave Dyson. Admission will be free.
Freedom, which is a groove improv jam session led by Orphy Robinson and Cleveland Watkiss, relocates from Charley Wright's for new monthly here from 12th January. While it's impossible to say who will play, the past participants (such as Tori Handsley and Steve Noble) have been great. Just £5!
