Album
description
Although best known across the globe for his virtuosic violin recordings, in November 2005 Nigel entered a studio in New York accompanied by a cast of stellar musicians to lay down his first session for Blue Note Records.
Kennedy, a jazz aficionado since childhood, has realised a personal dream by recording an album with jazz greats Ron Carter and Jack DeJohnette, Blue Note regulars Kenny Werner and Joe Lovano and up-and-coming jazz musicians of the next generation.
The resulting CD, Blue Note Sessions, was produced and mixed by Jay Newland, best known for his Grammy-award-winning work with Norah Jones.
The album features a stella cast of musicians:
NIGEL KENNEDY, violin
LUCKY PETERSON, Hammond B-3 organ
RON CARTER, double bass
JACK DE JOHNETTE, drums
DANNY SADOWNICK, percussion
JD ALLEN, tenor sax
JOE LOVANO, tenor sax
RAUL MIDÓN, acoustic guitar, vocal
