Co-founder and original bassist Lester Batchelor leads the band who recreate the excitement and intrigue of Atmosfear’s own brand of experimental intergalactic British Jazz Funk with a new recording entitled ‘DIOS:2020’, a rework of their iconic seminal-track ‘Dancing in Outer Space.
Dancing In Outer Space is a certified jazz-funk classic from this legendary UK band!
It sits at the pinnacle of the early 80’s underground UK dance scene that went on to have a massive global influence. Stateside, the track had huge support on the New York club scene. Venues such as the mythic ‘Paradise Garage’, Studio 54 and ‘The Loft’ by the likes of Larry Levan and David Mancuso. An instantly recognisable anthem that is just as fresh today as it was when it was first released.
It’s influence has been felt around the world and remixed many times by superstar DJ/producers such as Masters at Work (Louie Vega and Kenny ‘Dope’ Gonzales), Francois K, and Dimitri from Paris. UK DJ, Joey Negro citing it as one of his favourite tracks. BBC DJ Pete Tong also credits the band as an important influence on the UK dance scene, and awarded Atmosfear with club track of the year for their Latin jazz funk classic ‘Xtract’.
This event / party celebrates Atmosfear’s re-birth. DIOS:2020 marks a moment in time that honours the original classic recording and looks to the future by kicking off a new chapter in Atmosfear’s evolution.
