Jazz in Cinema Project feat. Sam Leak & Dave Storey

Germana Stella La Sorsa – vocals
Joe Boyle – double bass
Sam Leak – piano
Dave Storey – drums

Born from the meeting of the English double bass player Joe Boyle and the Italian singer Germana La Sorsa, JiC – Jazz in Cinema – Project have been interpreting music written for cinema.

Normally performing as a duo, the band will be specially enriched by two special guests: the pianist Sam Leak and Dave Storey on drums.
With special arrangements the group’s interpretation gives each song a new life in a very immersive setting and always in the time honoured tradition of jazz music.

Germana Stella La Sorsa (vocals):
With one of the most versatile voices in jazz, Germana recently moved to the UK after working her way up through the Italian music scene to ultimately perform with one of the most influential jazz guitarists: Franco Cerri (Chet Baker, Dizzy Gillespie and more).

Joe Boyle (double bass):
He has been working on the London jazz scene for many years now and having played with various high profile musicians, Joe is working towards releasing his debut album that was premiered at Ronnie Scott’s last summer.

Sam Leak (piano)
‘One of the brightest stars in the Jazz piano galaxy, a heavenly improviser, and a brilliant prospect for the future.’ (JazzFM’s Helen Mayhew).
Jamie Cullum introduced Sam’s band “Aquarium” as ‘the heavyweights of the British Jazz scene’ and described himself as a ‘fan’ of the band in his BBC broadcast.

Dave Storey (drums)
Composer and band leader for his trio featuring saxophonist James Allsopp & bass player Conor Chaplin, who are set to record their first album later in 2018, Dave plays in different projects including Alistair Martin Quintet & Tom Barford’s Asterope who are to release their first album on Edition Records.
