For this evening john invites the veteran and celebrated saxophonist Art Themen to join him for a night of hard swinging jazz, highlighting John’s straight ahead Jazz credentials alongside a man who was long time partner of the great Stan Tracey,and who started his career in the blues boom of the early 60s with the likes of Jack Bruce and Alexis Korner. John and Art have had a working relationship since Art deputised in the reformed Soft Machine ,and they both have a taste for taking the unexpected route in what seems like familiar repertoire ..an exciting pairing ,completed tonight by the superb rhythm section of Arnie Somogyi (bass) ,and Winston Clifford (drs),stars in their own right.
