Mopomoso

Kay Grant (voice) / Ntshuks Bonga (saxophone) duo

It sometimes happens that things get pushed to the back of the queue for no other reason than conflicting diaries. This duo has been on our ‘want list’ for at least a couple of years and it is with great delight we can finally welcome them here to Mopomoso. Clear and passionate players, who are well known on the London ‘scene’, their music is a delightful blend of melodic line, rhythmic ease, emotional and intellectual flow.

Georges Paul (saxophones)

Born in Thessaloniki Paul began making music while studying philosophy in Greece and Germany. A dedicated free improviser he studied classical double bass with Iraklis Soumelidis at the Contemporary Conservatory of Thessaloniki and went on to study saxophones, nurturing an interest in the relation between contemporary improvisation and philosophical aesthetics, while researching new methods and techniques for exploring sound.

With Pavel Borodin he is co-founder of the In Situ Art Society and is currently preparing a solo LP as well as a series of 7” records with different collaborators. A welcome UK debut!https://www.georgespaul.com/

John Russell (guitar) / Roger Turner (percussion) duo

One of free improvisation’s longest running duo partnerships going back nearly 40 years, a performance by this duo is one not to be missed! The speed of interaction coupled with great technical agility, a seemingly endless stream of ideas, the use of every available aspect of their instruments and a pure joy of playing is what makes this a very special pairing indeed. Come and have the bugs blown out!
