Pigfoot established themselves as radical interpreters of classic New Orleans jazz with their acclaimed 2014 CD ‘21st Century Acid Trad’. At their ongoing ‘Pigfoot Play’ residency at the Vortex they have been extending their repertoire in all directions, with gigs dedicated to Opera, Motown, Elvis and music from the year 1972. Tonight they will invite the audience to pick tunes from the hat, so Wagner will be rubbing shoulders with Bessie Smith, Lieber & Stoller,Curtis Mayfield, Richard Strauss, Led Zeppelin, Fats Waller and Puccini, all spontaneously transformed by the band’s wild musicality and wry humour.
