Tony Coe with Tina May accompanied by Barry Green/Mick Hutton – JUST ANNOUNCED

JUST ANNOUNCED!

A mouthwatering concert! The collaboration of Tina May (“extravagantly gifted” according to Dave Gelly in the Observer) and Tony Coe most recently surfaced in an album with Enrico Pieranunzi

This is a rare opportunity to hear them together live. Expect standards and originals interpreted in a great way.

Tony Coe is one of our greatest musicians, who has a very special way of getting to audiences whether playing standards, his own compositions, or just playing ‘free’ (as he did at the Vortex last year). This was shown by the fact that he was an illustrious winner of the Jazzpar Prize – the jazz Nobel Prize!

He has performed with many of the great musicians of the past 50 years, ranging from Count Basie through to John Dankworth and Evan Parker. His clarinet playing has been known for many sessions, and many will certainly known him for his playing of Henry Mancini’s Pink Panther theme in the films!

“a complete musician as well as a true jazz master” (JAZZPAR Prize citation)

They perform tonight  with a great pair: pianist Barry Green (known for his work as leader of the Vortex Jazz Trio and in line and master bassist Mick Hutton
