Exploring Routes in Jazz

Exploring the Routes in Jazz was an innovative summer project for young people aged 13–18 who worked with professional jazz musicians.

Nine talented young people participated in an intensive week of vocal and instrumental workshops at the Vortex and performed at the club on Friday 7th August.

This project was developed by the Vortex in association with Hackney Co-operative Development’s Gillett Squared project. It is part of the development of the work of the Vortex Jazz Foundation and Gillett Squared’s socially-engaged work in Dalston.

Exploring the Routes in Jazz was artistically and educationally directed by the musicians’ collective BrazenBunch, which represents artists working across diverse cultural terrain to promote wider participation and inclusion.'
