Robert Mitchell and Omar Puente

The evening gig, featuring Robert Mitchell and Omar Puente, was played to a heaving, packed club and proved every bit as powerful and graceful as the duo's album (see CD Reviews).
Singer Deborah Jordan overcame what sounded like a nasty cough to add her vocals to the mix, but it was the extraordinary musical rapport between the keening, agile electric violin of Puente and the astonishingly fleet piano of Mitchell that really impressed; the joy they derive from their compatibility is discernible in every note they play, and their two sets were the perfect way to launch the club's participation in the Festival.
