Thought-Fox is an award winning jazz quintet created by Dublin-born/London-based vocalist Lauren Kinsella. The quintet take their name from a Ted Hughes poem written in his 1957 collection ‘Hawk in the Rain’. The poem is used as a springboard for approaching song and group interplay, with Lauren’s use of text bringing the listener closer to the music while the group explores extended vocal technique, odd-time grooves and traditional jazz harmony.
Pop-Up Circus is a multi-disciplinary platform presenting new work and together with the Vortex will present the launch of Thought-Fox’s new album ‘My Guess’. The night will feature a live set from the quintet plus a special performance by artist Louise Ward, whose work is featured on the album cover.
Lauren Kinsella - voice
Colm O'Hara - trombone
Tom Gibbs - piano
Mick Coady - bass
Simon Roth - drums
