Jenny Hval + Leon Michener
Jenny Hval
Jenny Hval’s previous, highly acclaimed Rune Grammofon album "Viscera" (2011), recorded with her own free rock trio, overflowed with intimate detail and surrealist bodily imagery.
The follow-up "Innocence Is Kinky" was produced in Bristol by PJ Harvey collaborator John Parish, who helped bring out the intimate qualities of her lyrics and sharpened her improvisational tendencies, weaving spellbinding new forms of intelligent, experimental pop with injections from mythology, theory and gender politics. You can trace her no-holds-barred streams of consciousness and unorthodox subject matter back to earlier heroes such as Einstürzende Neubauten’s Blixa Bargeld (her title puns on their LP "Silence Is Sexy"), Patti Smith, Michael Gira, Nick Cave and Kate Bush.
Previous album 'Viscera' was voted one of the best albums of 2011 by Uncut, Drowned In Sound, Cokemachineglow.
Leon Michener
London born Leon Michener is one of the most exciting and unclassifiable pianists around, a musician whose unique versatility and technical ability is demonstrated by his performances of both improvised and classical music. Tonight he combines both passions and presents the Klaviertron, a groundbreaking fusion of prepared piano and real time analog sound processing. Taking the works of Cage and Stockhausen as a starting point yet encompassing Techno and modern dance music expect sounds from the piano that you have probably never heard before...
