Brass Mask celebrate the launch of debut album ‘Spy Boy’ on the Babel Label, with a very special show which will be recorded by BBC Radio 3's Jazz on 3 and Jazz LIne Up, hosted by Kevin LeGendre and broadcast the following day on radio stations across Europe.
Tom Challenger’s Brass Mask is a forward looking 8 piece horns + percussion band that matches the traditional songs of New Orleans' Mardi Gras Indians with original composition that explore a myriad of styles and approaches. Expect musical counterpoint nestling alongside religious spirituals, and furious free improv alongside tightly knitted grooves and rich ensemble writing.
