Muntu Valdo is a Sawa from the coast of Cameroon in West Africa. His music is rooted in the blues, mixing African traditions with striking modernity. Since releasing his first album Gods & Devils in 2005 he has toured all over the world and played with some of the great names of African music including Ali Farka Touré, Manu Dibango and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. His last album The One & The Many was released by Warner Jazz and described by Metro as "Pure spiritual uplift" and by The Times as "Music to banish sadness".
Now based in London, for the past few years Valdo has been wowing audiences with his solo shows supported only by a constantly expanding armada of pedals at his feet.
Tonight Muntu Valdo introduces us to his brand new band for a sneak preview of new material and taster of things to come.
