Let Spin is a new musical collaboration which features original compositions from all four members, from dark, brooding grooves to upbeat quirky riffs via folk-infused melodies and free playing. Featuring guitarist Moss Freed (Moss Project), bassist Ruth Goller (Acoustic Ladyland, Rokia Traore), saxophonist Chris Williams (Led Bib) and Fin Panter (Beats & Pieces) on drums. Between them, these individual players have played with the cream of contemporary genre-crossing UK bands, and this coming-together promises to be an electric meeting of their creative forces.
"Let Spin are firmly rooted in the modern, the hectic, and the gleefully bizarre." - London Jazz
Dakhla is a horn and drum based quartet playing original tunes that blend evocative harmonies, intricate rhythms and absorbing soundscapes. With endless vigour and vitality, the audience is drawn deep into the expanse of their imagination.
Their first album ‘In the Land of Milk and Honey’ was self released in the winter of 2011 and received glowing reviews. The second album ‘The Eye of Icarus’ is released locally in early 2013, preceeding a national release and tour in April/May. It was recorded with Jim Barr (Portishead, Get the Blessing) at J+J Studios.
The band was recently chosen to play the Manchester Jazz Festival as a part of BBC Introducing’s ‘Best of new Jazz’ by Gilles Peterson and Jez Nelson. That same gig was broadcast across the country.
"Really punchy, very powerful energic sound." (Kevin LeGendre)
