"The Necks are masters" The Guardian
"entirely unique" Jez Nelson, BBC Jazz on 3
Together for 25 years the Australian cult trio, The Necks, have enthralled audiences worldwide with their compelling style of improvisation. Defying orthodox description, not entirely avant-garde, nor minimalist, nor ambient, nor jazz, their music is regularly described internationally as, simply, unique.
Every Necks' performance is a singular event, entirely improvised and working with the acoustics of the room. Featuring lengthy pieces of long-form improvisation which build in a mesmerising, epic fashion frequently underpinned by an insistent deep groove, their performances are never less than phenomenal.
"Absolutely riveting...how three musicians can sound like eighteen is a mystery... extraordinary magical sounds emerged from the ensemble...the way The Necks do this with acoustic instruments is nothing short of miraculous" Financial Times
"One of the greatest bands in the world" New York Times

We're delighted to host the launch of Pigfoot's debut album "21st Century Acid Trad".
"Pigfoot's debut album not only blows the cobwebs off eight favourites of the trad repertoire, it sandblasts away decades of treacly cliche" Arts Desk
Pigfoot mine their material from the rich seams of New Orleans music; hot jazz, spirituals and blues from the likes of Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith and Jelly Roll Morton, reconstructed and transformed by the quick wit, imagination and diverse reference points of each musician, resulting in what trumpet player Chris Batchelor describes as "21st Century Acid Trad".
Chris Batchelor - trumpet
Liam Noble - piano
Oren Marshall - tuba
Paul Clarvis - drums
"Batchelor, a fine trumpeter who intriguingly blends Miles Davis's shrewd pacing and evocative long-note sounds with something of Harry Beckett's bubbly phrasing" John Fordham, The Guardian
