Last Amendment

Last Amendment (formerly known as The Crass Collective and Crass Agenda) is the working title of a series of collaborations by ex-members of the anarchist punk band Crass and a loose collective of musicians, performance artists and poets.

London’s ‘top jazzbos’ – punk poet Penny Rimbaud and Eve Libertine (vocals) have been at the forefront of the radical music scene since their days with the seminal anarchist punk band Crass and their current work with London’s best jazzers defies all the rules.

In evenings such as ‘Scratch my arse’ and ‘The Madness of the Moment’, Last Amendment present a fierce fusion of poetry and jazz, reflecting the candid word power inherent in Rimbaud's eloquent poetical fervour – 'offering consolation through confrontation, comfort through chaos' – poetry, beats, noise, jazz grooves, audience participation and general irritation...an all-out boundary-busting attack on aural sensibilities.

Collaborators include jazz luminaries such as saxophonists Louise Elliott and Ed Jones, bassist Jennifer Maidman, trumpeter Claude Deppa, drummers Gene Calderazzo and Brian Abrahams and cellist Kate Shortt, providing the musical setting to Penny Rimbaud's provocative readings.

Expect the unexpected...or call it a day.

‘Stunning musical and literary audacity. I’d frame them if I could.’ (C. Saatchi - L’Art Maintenant).

Excellent air conditioning.’ (John Fordlam)
