A complete guide to events at The Vortex
Vortex
Tour EastCreating their own distinctive multi-genre sound from folk and jazz through to soul and hip-hop, Theo Bard, Fiona Bevan and Jonathan Geyevu are currently making a name for themselves on the London music scene.
Vortex Tour East will bring these singer songwriters together for the first time to perform across the East End. Watch out for free performances in unexpected places between Thursday 5th and Tuesday 11th March 2009.
Theo
Bard is a man who feels that his best way to communicate with the world
is through music. Inspired by the clarity of storytelling in traditional
folk, he draws on reggae, hip-hop and acoustic elements to tell his own
stories, with a rare lyrical power. Never afraid of simplicity in music,
he shares philosophies, perspectives and poetry with an unusual honesty
and lucidity.
"Gratifying truth serum for your ears" – The Blue Light

Fiona
Bevan has been compared to Erykah Badu, Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush and Marc
Bolan. Her jazz-inflected folk songs wryly depict love and city life with
dark quirks and kinks.

approach to the piano and is developing his own jazz-influenced singer-songwriter
style.
