Vortex to welcome back Annie Whitehead’s World Music Workshop

Monday 21 to Friday 25 July

For the second year running, the Vortex is hosting the five-day World Music Big Band Summer Workshop and Friday night gig run by trombonist Annie Whitehead.

Supported by her own band’s rhythm section, Annie uses funk, Latin, rock and jazz arrangements as a basis for teaching the techniques of section work, soloing and performance presentation.

Last year’s workshop was a runaway success, and the Friday night Vortex gig filled the club to capacity.

Annie said: "I’m looking forward to doing this again. Age, experience or what you come knowing doesn’t matter. What is important is your commitment to working hard and improving your musicianship.”

The Vortex is a supporter of the Annie Whitehead World Music Workshop, which is held every Tuesday evening at Cecil Sharp House, Regents Park Road.
