The Vortex Jazz Foundation

Supporting The Vortex and promoting jazz in London

The Vortex Jazz Foundation was set up in November 2001 to save the Vortex Jazz Club from closure.

A registered charity, (registered charity number 1099088), The Foundation’s aims and objectives are to help secure the future of live jazz in North and East London and to develop a programme of jazz education and audience development.

We are planning to:

run workshops suited to a wide range of ages and abilities
integrate the club’s live performance programming with music colleges in order to provide opportunities for students to perform in public
commission new music
award prizes and bursaries.

Now that the original club in Stoke Newington has closed the Foundation and the club are now working towards raising money to secure a long-term future at the new Culture House in Dalston.
