SUMMARY:Enrico Pieranunzi Trio + Julie Sassoon
DESCRIPTION:Enrico Pieranunzi Trio\nA very special performance\, part of this years London Jazz Festival\, Italy’s jazz poet\, pianist & composer Enrico Pieranunzi plays with his trio. Known for fusing classical piano techniques with that of jazz; as a composer he doesn’t clutter his scores and as a pianist he avoids improvising with technical excess. His playing is described as having intense lyricism\, while not losing hold of that ability to swing with energy and freshness. The trio includes Enzo Zirilli (drums) and Geoff Gascoyne (bass).\n\n"Italy's jazz piano poet" allaboutjazz.com\nJulie Sassoon\nThe British pianist & composer's debut solo album ‘New Life’ on Babel Records received rave reviews and was voted among the top ten international albums in Jazzwise Magazine. In April this year she released her second album - ‘Land of Shadows’ on the Berlin Jazzwerkstatt Label.\n\nThe solo gig she shared with Oregon at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in a previous London Jazz Festival was described as ‘one of the most inspired pairings of the festival’ and received a 5 star Evening Standard review and a BBC Radio 3 broadcast.\n\n"Sassoon’s capacity to sustain interest without resorting to licks\, tricks or slickness of any kind is remarkable… music of rare beauty." Duncan Heining\, **** Jazzwise
