DESCRIPTION:Part of the EFG London Jazz Festival\n\nMopomoso presents John Russell’s Quaqua.\n\nThe highly regarded guitarist leads his own group\, bringing together musicians from a variety of backgrounds and approaches in a celebration of all things improvised.\n\nDrawn from an ever changing roster of fine improvisers from around the world with many existing connections\, he adds new elements\, making each group unique to every event. Starting and finishing with short pieces from the whole ensemble the rest of the evening is divided into a series of smaller units. This multiplexity of approaches allows for an engaging and direct musical experience ranging from fine detail to broad soundscapes. Led by guitarist Hannes Riepler\, the atmosphere is playful but the calibre is outstanding. Spotted so far have been Django Bates and Soweto Kinch among others.
