"FUTUREthno" mix ethnic motifs with a large helping of electronica; Pulicinella’s combination of fantasy & on-stage theatrics recalls a fairytale world; while Hannes Riepler's Quintet stylishly combine the immediacy of New York’s propulsive Downtown style with classical and folk textures.\n\nFUTUREthno\n\n"FUTUREthno" mix ethnic motifs with a large helping of electronic music. This particularly interesting vision of folklore is a bold interpretation and the essence of the project transfers the spirit of folk song into the arena of modern jazz.. DESCRIPTION:Part of the EFG London Jazz Festival\n\nTHE VORTEX DOWNSTAIRS\n\nContinuing the long tradition of jazz jam sessions with musicians fine tuning their chops & maybe sparring a little too\, the Vortex Downstairs Jam is a chance to see some extraordinary musicians play. Led by guitarist Hannes Riepler\, the atmosphere is playful but the calibre is outstanding. Spotted so far have been Django Bates and Soweto Kinch among others.
