SUMMARY:Michael Chapman
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating the 2014 release of 'Live At Folk Cottage 1967' on Treehouse Records. Blues and Rock n' Roll covers performed live in Cornwall circa 1967\, secretly recorded at the time and never heard until now. The album will be available on CD and Vinyl.\n\n"Just as John Fahey and Robbie Basho were belatedly sainted by a slew of avant-garde musicians eager to enrich their experimental fields with old primitive tradition\, so the same enclave have reached out to embrace Yorkshire-born minstrel Michael Chapman." Spencer Grady\, BBC Music website\n\nMichael Chapman was first championed by John Peel in the 1970's. His Career retrospective double CD and booklet package 'Trainsong: Guitar Compositions 1967-2010' came out on Tompkins Square in February 2010\, and Light In The Attic re-issued his classic 'Fully Qualified Survivor' in the same month. To cap this off\, LIA released 'Wrecked Again' in March 2013\, 'Rainmaker' in early 2102. All three are available in 180gm heavyweight vinyl L.P. format and on CD. All three releases have received stunning reviews.\n\nMichael Chapman has already been rediscovered wholesale in the US courtesy of his Jack Rose and No Neck Blues Band connections\, topped off by his extensive interview by fan Thurston Moore in Fretboard Journal in 2009\, where Moore compared Chapman's style and influence with that of John Renbourn and Bert Jansch. (Both of whom Chapman knew from his early days). Now the UK and Europe are catching up with this sudden explosion of excitement about him\, and quite right too.

SUMMARY:JAZZPROJECTOR
DESCRIPTION:Jazz Projector is a night of jazz related films hosted by Dr Nicolas Pillai (University of Warwick). Since most of these legendary musicians are dead it is perhaps the closest we can come to experiencing them live. The two short films selected for the next Jazz Projector event are: Jammin’ the Blues (1944) Dir. Gjon Mili\, and Blues for Joan Miro (1966) Producer Norman Granz. The first conjures up classic images of Lester Young and others\, while the second film is part of an uncompleted Ellington film project. The evening concludes with a 1965 Jazz 625 recording of the Thelonious Monk Quartet\n\nPRES\, DUKE & MONK\n\nTwo short films produced by Norman Granz - Jammin' the Blues (1944) and Blues for Joan Miro (1966) - provide valuable glimpses of great musicians in modernist environments. The first conjures classic images of Lester Young\, the second is part of an uncompleted Ellington film project. The evening concludes with a 1965 Jazz 625 recording of the Thelonious Monk Quartet.\n\n \n\n
