SUMMARY:John Hegley + Simon Munnery
DESCRIPTION:Poems\, anecdotes and songs with Eleanor Moreton on fiddle\, from consumate wordsmith John Hegley\, joined by special guest Simon Munnery\n\nJOHN HEGLEY\n\n'Comedy's poet laureate'' The Independent\n\nLocal man John Hegley's first public performance monies came from busking his songs\, initially outside a shoeshop in Hull\, in the late Seventies. He performed on the streets of London in the early Eighties\, fronting the Popticians\, with whom he also recorded two sessions for John Peel\, and has since been a frequent performer of his words\, sung and spoken\, on both local and national radio.\n\nHe has produced ten books of verse and prose pieces\, two CDs and one mug\, but his largest source of income is from stages on his native island. An Edinburgh Festival regular\, he is noted for his exploration of such diverse topics as dog hair\, potatoes\, handkerchieves and the misery of human existence. His latest book 'I am a Poetato: An A-Z of poems about people\, pets and other creatures'\, is published by Frances Lincoln Children's Books.\n\nwww.johnhegley.co.uk\n\nSIMON MUNNERY\n\n"One of the funniest and most original comedians of the past 20 years" The Guardian\n\nSimon Munnery\, also known by his stagenames of Alan Parker: Urban Warrior and The League Against Tedium\, is an English comedy writer and experimental standup comedian. He performs mainly to an alternative audience but has pierced the mainstream both with his BBC Radio 1 show in 1997 and his BBC2 television series Attention Scum! in 2001. Munnery's experimental style is reflected in his on-stage appearance: his unfashionable glasses\, homemade clothes (or clothes apparently donated to him by comedian Jeff Green)\, makeshift props\, and dramatic facial hair.\n\nsimonmunnery.com
