SUMMARY:Mechanical Moon + Olivia's Owls
DESCRIPTION:Mechanical Moon\n\nMechanical Moon present an eclectic song cycle based on poems by the great American poet Elizabeth Bishop\, combining elements of jazz\, folk and storytelling. This project\, the first by singer-songwriter Erica Jarnes\, aims to cross the boundaries between poetry and music\, and between the inner and outer worlds of human experience. Expect to be uplifted\, surprised\, captivated and made to think!\n\nThe art of losing isn't hard to master\nSo many things seemed filled with the intent\nTo be lost that their loss is no disaster\n---from 'One Art\n\nOlivia's Owls\n\nFounded in 2011 and led by composer and bassist Hedi Pinkerfeld (Tir Eolas)\, Olivia's Owls have been steadily honing their own unique brand of instrumental music\, described as "eighteen-year-old scotch for your ear-balls" (RazMataz Magazine)\, with live performances on the London scene and international dates including the 2013 Langnau Jazz Nights festival. They have recently recorded their debut album\, due for release by F-IRE in summer 2014.\n\nThe group's delicate\, melodic material draws as much from Faure and Scriabin as the jazz tradition\, striking a compelling balance between intricate compositions and improvisational freedom. The music features the talented and much-in-demand Alex Coppard (Brass Notes\, Bombay Bicycle Club) Charlie Laffer (Daley\, Maverick Sabre) and Josh Stadlen (Femme\, Rudimental).\n\nListen to Olivia's Owls\n\n \n\n
