SUMMARY:Acrobat Trio: Will Bartlett / Kristian Borring / Pat Davey
DESCRIPTION:Acrobat is a London-based organ trio\, founded in 2008 by its three members. The warmth and presence of the classic organ/guitar groups are heard alongside new textures and stylish improvising. Compelling grooves and melodic clarity invite the listener inside one of the most exciting sounds in jazz today.\n\nCollective effort is the key in Acrobat. All members contribute compositions; this subtle\, supportive interaction allows the music to grow from sparse colours and intimate dialgoues to rugged sounds with electrifying solos. An evolving and involving experience.\n\nWill Bartlett – organ\nPat Davey – drums\nKristian Borring – guitar\n\nWill Bartlett studied classical and jazz piano at Oxford University and at the Guildhall School of Music\, London. He has rapidly become one of the UK's most in-demand jazz organists\, playing with Kaz Simmons\, Mike Outram and Jon Shenoy's Draw by Four. As a pianist he has also performed with Norma Winstone\, Stan Sulzmann\, Buddy Greco\, The Nelson Riddle Orchestra\, The Michael Garrick Jazz Orchestra and Salena Jones. Will’s compositional skills were recognised in 2003\, winning him the 'Most promising musician' in the BBC Big Band competition. He now writes orchestral scores\, Jazz melodies and everything in between.\n\nPatrick Davey\, originally from Liverpool\, came to London to study at Trinity College of Music where he received the Archers Scholarship. Having developed a distinct and energetic sound he is now a greatly in-demand performer and session musician\, appearing on UK radio and TV as well as live stages worldwide. He has played and performed with Phronesis\, King Candy and The Sugar Push\, Miskha Adams\, Rhythms of The City\, Rory Simmons and many more. Davey is also one of the initiators behind the London based SE Jazz-Collective\, aiming to promote and showcase new jazz.\n“Beautifully judged sounds from Davey.” (John L Walters – The Guardian)\n\nDanish born\, Kristian Borring is now based in London after completing his studies at The Guildhall School of Music in 2006. Since arriving in London he has become an exciting player on the UK jazz scene. Described as a “guitarist of enormous technical ability who utilises his considerable gifts thoughtfully and tastefully” (The Jazz Mann - Ian Mann)\, Kristian has performed throughout the UK and Europe with many groups and performers including Antonio Zambrini\, Laurence Cottle\, Tommaso Starace\, Will Winson and Gareth Lockrane. He performs regularly with his own Quartet as well as with alto saxophonist Tommaso Starace’s Quartet and jazz/folk diva Monika Lidke's Quartet. With his recent solo release\, Kristian has established himself well as a composer: “Borring’s compositions [are] both immediately attractive and enduringly impressive.” (Chris Parker).
