SUMMARY:Linda Sharrock
DESCRIPTION:Iconic singer Linda Sharrock comes for an intimate Sunday afternoon show with Mario Rectern and others including Charlie Collins\, John Jasnoch and Derek Saw.\n\nProduced in conjunction with Mopomoso.\n\nFrom allmusic biography\, by Ron Wynn:\n\n'While not as well known or extensively recorded as other vocal improvisers like Jeanne Lee\, Irene Abei\, or evenUrzula Dudziak\, Linda Sharrock's soaring\, swelling sound is just as penetrating and striking. She was featured with her then husband Sonny on the classic Atlantic album Black Woman (sadly out of print)\, in which her screams\, yelps\, cries\, and calls were punctuated by Sharrock's splintering riffs\, dissonant lines\, and slamming\, percussive phrases. It was a jarring experience even for listeners who'd heard late period Coltrane and were then still dealing with Albert Ayler(1970). Linda Sharrock later parted musical company withSonny\, then resurfaced on a 1986 album by a group called The Pat Brothers. This time she was doing a quasi-'50s cool narratives/vocals\, while the trio of Wolfgang Puschning\, Wolfgang Mitterer and Wolfgang Reising meshed an array of alto sax screams and bleats\, flute lines\, synthesizer noodling\, sampled snippets and crashing drum beats. This time\, Sharrock was the calming influence. She certainly hasn't been a straight singer.'

SUMMARY:Lume presents: Jeff Spencer's Crocodile & Nick Malcolm Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Jeff Spencer's Crocodile\n\nCrocodile is the vehicle for compositions by bassist Jeff Spencer\, featuring an all-star lineup of some of the best young jazz musicians around. The best of modern classical influences sit amongst infectious and raucous world rhythms and obtuse funk. With a healthy splattering of free improv and some almost rock bits\, Crocodile is a crafty beast and it's after your ears!\n\nGareth Lockrane - flute\n\nLaura Jurd - trumpet\n\nGavin Broom - trumpet\n\nJames Gardiner-Bateman - alto sax\n\nJosh Arcoleo - tenor sax\n\nJoe Wright - tenor sax\n\nKieran McLeod - trombone\n\nCallum Au - bass trombone\n\nElliot Galvin - keys\n\nAlex Munk - guitar\n\nJeff Spencer - bass\n\nDave Hamblett - drums\n\nHugh Wilkinson - percussion\n\nNick Malcolm Quartet\n\nNick Malcolm is a musician who happily inhabits multiple stylistic worlds\, equally at home playing freely improvised music as he is in a more composed jazz setting. His quartet play his original compositions\, exploring this love of both freedom and structure. The music merges and deconstructs rhythm\, melody and all the points in between\, resulting in an intense and thrilling performance. Featuring some of the leading improvisers on the UK scene\, the quartet have released two albums to critical acclaim\, the most recent being 2014's excellent 'Beyond These Voices'.\n\nNick Malcolm – trumpet\n\nAlexander Hawkins – piano\n\nOlie Brice – bass\n\nRic Yarborough - drums
