SUMMARY:Sputnik Trio + Webster/Lisle/Ward
DESCRIPTION:A feisty trio. London-based Trio consisting of:\n\nRicardo Tejero saxophone\n\nMarco Serrato Bass\n\nBorja Díaz drums\n\n“Sputnik Trio” is the result of three gentlemen meeting. Like falling space rocks on a junk yard\, London based gravitatory saxophonist Ricardo Tejero and Sevilla dysfunctional (a)rhythmic pairing of bassist Marco Serrato and drummer Borja Díaz\, took no prisoners.\n\nBorn in Madrid\, Ricardo Tejero's work ranges through improvisation\, composition\, conduction of large orchestras as well as an important role as music educator. Having graduated in Jazz and Contemporary Music from Leeds College Music\, Tejero has gone on to becoming one of the key figures in London’s improvised music scene playing regularly with musicians like Steve Noble\, Dominic Lash\, Dave Tucker or Mark Sanders\, amongst others. Amongst his collaborations and projects are the London Improvisers Orchestra (UK)\, BERio Orchestra (Germany)\, Foco Orchestra (Spain)\, Tabla y Cuchillo and Triatone. Tejero has played at festivals and venues in most European countries as well as Brazil\, USA and Japan\, and his recorded appearances have been released on labels like Emanem (UK)\, Leo Records (UK)\, Audition Records (Mexico-Germany) or Clamshell Records (Spain).\n\nBass player Marco Serrato\, is best known for his work in Spanish avant metal cult band Orthodox\, as well as other projects like ambient-drone duo Jacob and his studies of classical string bass. Borja Díaz completes the Orthodox rhythm section and also plays in noise-punk quartet Blooming Látigo\, along with other acts. Together with clarinettist Gustavo Domínguez\, they form Hidden Forces Trio\, an improv/ jazz combo with one album released by Simon H. Fell’s label Bruce’s Fingers. Both collaborated with flamenco dancer Israel Galván on his spectacle El final de este estado de cosas; their output has been released through labels like Southern Lord (USA)\, Alone Records (Spain)\, Bruce’s Fingers (UK)\, Utech Records (USA) Knockturne Records (Spain) and Trips und Träume (Italy); and have played multiple festivals and gig venues around Europe and Canada.\n\nWEBSTER/LISLE/WARD\n\nColin Webster - saxophone\nAndrew Lisle - drums\nAlex Ward - guitar\n\nA new trio formed by three prolific figures on the UK and European improvised music scene. Alex Ward is known for his early collaborations with Derek Bailey\, his powerhouse trio N.E.W. with Steve Noble and John Edwards\, and his composition/songwriting work with his sextet\, and duo Dead Days Beyond Help respectively. Andrew Lisle has worked with a number of key London-based improvisors including Ward\, Daniel Thompson\, Seymour Wright\, and plays in Roland Ramanan’s Tentet\, and punk-improv band Shatner’s Bassoon. Colin Webster is known for his duos with drummer Mark Holub\, and also turntablist Graham Dunning. He also performs regularly with Dutch free jazz/noise trio Dead Neanderthals.\n\nThe trio's debut album 'Red Kite' was released on Raw Tonk Records earlier this year.\n\nhttps://rawtonkrecords.bandcamp.com/album/red-kite
