DESCRIPTION:Harvie S has been an inimitable presence in jazz since the 1970s and has appeared on hundreds of recordings including classic dates with pianist Steve Kuhn\, Sheila Jordan\, Kenny Barron\, Mike Stern\, Michael Brecker\, Mark Murphy\, Greg Abate\, Alan Broadbent and so many others.\nHe has been the bass and ensemble instructor at the Manhattan School of Music since 1984\nand has taught workshops around the globe.\nHis latest CD "Plucky Strum" (Whaling City Jazz) has garnered rave reviews and his previous CD "Witchcraft" (High Note Records) in duo with Kenny Barron was no. #1 on Jazz week and stayed on the charts for 3 months. for more go to www.harvie.com or Harviesbass on Facebook\n\nHarvie S will present a workshop for all instruments which will feature many aspects of the bass.  All instruments that can tune into the bass better when they play will be able to attain a deeper understanding of the music and thus play more interesting solos. in  the case of a drummer: more swinging time and more groove.Harvie S known for his duo work with Sheila Jordan\, Kenny Barron\, Mike Stern\, Jim Hall\, John Scofield Paquito Di Rivera\nand Art Farmer will play and talk about duo performance.\n\nThere will be participation so bring your instruments in which you will play with the other participants with Harvie S also.\nHarvie will also talk about bass line construction and  issues bassists encounter. This is good information for all instruments. Mixed in with everything will be stories and a lot of laughs talking about the music business etc..\nHarvie S has written 10 duets featuring the bass\, but can be played with 2 bassists or bass and any other instrument. DESCRIPTION:An exciting double bill showcasing two releases from the Gearbox label\, from the West and East ends - of Europe.\n\nBinker and Moses\n\nTenor saxophonist Binker Golding and drummer Moses Boyd are two of the most exciting young jazz musicians playing today\, recently winning Best Jazz Act at the MOBO Awards 2015.Their ‘Dem Ones’ LP is the jazz debut of the year and was recorded all-analogue live to stereo tape. With a mutual background in Tomorrow’s Warriors they have played together in various large & small format groups including recording & touring as members of Zara McFarlane’s band.\n\n\nNTS trio\n\nNTS trio is a Czech band of improvisational musicians from very different musical worlds: the contemporary art music composer and keyboard player Michal Nejtek\, jazz double bassist Petr Tichý and rock drummer Štěpán Smetáček. The band have found a champion in Basement Jaxx’s Simon Ratcliffe who recorded them at his Atlantic Jaxx studio in London earlier this year. Two of these tracks - Dark Forsage and Seven Up - are now being released as a limited edition 7” single by Gearbox Records.\n\n
