DESCRIPTION:Mike Fletcher plays with his trio of Olie Brice\, Jeff Williams + Julian Sanchez (trumpet)\n\n‘…an impressive performance by a very well balanced trio.’\nIan Mann 2015\n\nThe trio’s distinctive sound draws inspiration from the jazz tradition and combines with it a contemporary approach to improvisation. They perform Mike’s original compositions\, the melody of each forming a basis from which the music evolves\, allowing the group to sculpt each piece into a unique work. The three members of the group had played together in varying combinations for a number of years but 2014 marked the debut of this new trio formation.\n\nTheir debut CD Vuelta\, described by Peter Bacon as ‘(a) beautifully thought-out\, performed and recorded album’\, was launched in January 2015 on Stoney Lane Records.\n\nFor tonight's gig they are joined by Spanish trumpeter Julian Sanchez.

But here's the official version:\n\nCelebrating its 9th year the Fugata Quintet returns to Vortex with a programme of eclectic Piazzolla Nuevo Tango masterpieces and a fresh line-up: Živorad Nikolić (accordion)\, Anastasios Mavroudis (violin)\, Chris Allard (guitar)\, Anahit Chaushyan (piano) and Enrique Galassi (double bass). Fugata and its members have performed across the globe in venues such as Radio City Music Hall\, Royal Albert Hall\, Royal Festival Hall\, Purcell Room\, Wigmore Hall\, Salle Gaveau and Suntory Hall.
