DESCRIPTION:Over the last 20 years the BA Jazz course at Middlesex University has produced a whole array of forward looking and creative improvisers\, such as Led Bib\, Femi Temowo\, Binker Golding and Stian Westerhus. In this new series the Vortex will host established bands featuring former Middlesex jazz students\, and will also provide a platform for upcoming bands formed by current students.\nwww.mdx.jazz.org\n\nLET SPIN\n\nCHRIS MONTAGUE (guitar)\nRUTH GOLLER (bass)\nCHRIS WILLIAMS (saxophone)\nFINLAY PANTER (drums)\n\nTheir spectacular eponymous 2014 debut announced them as ‘a significant new UK jazz force’ (John Fordham\, The Guardian) and follow up LET GO is the album that confirms them as one of the most exciting new bands in Europe.\n\nFeaturing members of Melt Yourself Down\, Led Bib\, Beats & Pieces Big Band and Moss Project\, Let Spin is a band brimming with an individual and collective confidence. Recorded after a period of extensive touring\, LET GO is the electrifying result of 18 months of writing and rehearsing\, and fully delivers on the band’s significant promise as four powerful musical voices come together to forge a band sound that is uniquely their own.\n\nVELS TRIO\n\nCAMERON DAWSON (Bass)\nDOUGAL TAYLOR (Drums)\nJACK STEPHENSON-OLIVER (Keyboards)\n\nVels trio are an instrumental band\, originally from the shores of Brighton\, now based in London.
