SUMMARY:Sport and Culture: Breaking the Barriers
DESCRIPTION:This Summer\, 10 inspirational athletes will grace the greatest stage of all. For the first time\, the Rio Olympics includes a Refugee Olympic Athletes (ROA) team - a powerful reminder of the unifying potential of sport.\n\nOn Wed 10 August the Vortex Downstairs will host a full day and evening programme\, celebrating community\, sport and culture\, and to cheer on the Congolese pair Yolande Mabika and Popole Misenga\, representing the ROA in the Judo. The day will finish with the high energy live performance from Kasai Masai\, bringing their own brand of Urban Equitorial Funk to the Vortex and raising money for Women for Refugee Women.\n\nProgramme includes (subject to change):\n\n1pm - 2pm: Live BBC coverage of Rio Olympics\n2pm – 5pm: Coverage of the Judo\n5-5.30pm: Screening of BBC documentary: Team Refugee\n5.30-6pm: Readings from Women for Refugee Women (Gillett Square)\, and poetry from Mark Johnson\n7-7.30pm: Video and talk from London Judo Club\n7.30-9.30pm: More judo screenings downstairs\, including finals\n8pm: Live Music from Congolese band Kasai Masai (upstairs)\n9.30pm: Screening of Mediterrenea\, with Q+A from actor Alessane Sy\n\nTickets for Kasai Masai: £10 (£5 donated to Women for Refugee Women)\n\nPart of the Rio in Dalston summer series
