SUMMARY:'some things presents: chris dowding / julie kjaer'
DESCRIPTION:some things presents two early evening sets Downstairs during the London Jazz Festival:\n\nTonight: Chris Dowding and Ben Higham followed by an improvised set by Chris Dowding and  Julie Kjaer\n\nsome things (Chris Dowding and Ben Higham) is an ‘arresting trumpet duo’ from Norwich hosting a short residency at the Vortex Downstairs during the EFG London Jazz Festival. When not playing with Rude 2.0\, Natural Causes\, The Brass Monkeys\, Monk Inc. and Arthur amongst others\, Chris and Ben get together to explore a mixture of original material and unusual standards as the basis for improvisations\, building on the textures created by tight unison patterns and interlocking solos.\n\nThis residency provides an opportunity for Chris and Ben to engage in impromptu performances with two of their of their favourite saxophonists. Tonight some things will set the scene with a set followed by a spontaneous collaboration between UK-based Danish improviser Julie Kjaer (Julie Kjaer 3) and Chris Dowding.\n\nWe hope to see you at the gigs.
