SUMMARY:MOPOMOSO presents...
DESCRIPTION:The Musicians\n\nCharlotte Keefe (tpt\,flg) Joe Smith Sands (gtr) Diego Sampieri (gtr)\n+\nMarilza Gouvea (voc) Marcio Mattos (cello) Adrian Northover (sax)\n+\nJean-Jacques Duerinckx (sax) John Russell (gtr) Matthieu Safatly (cello)\n\nCharlotte Keefe (tpt\,flg) Joe Smith Sands (gtr) Diego Sampieri (gtr)\nIn 2016 Mopomoso began a regular workshop series to mark 25 years of unbroken monthly concerts dediacated to free improvisation and it is with great delight we are presenting a group led by one of that workshop’s core members. Trumpet / flugel horn player Charlotte Keefe\, who has recently completed her MA at The Guildhall School of Music\, is already exciting much interest on the scene. A talented instrumentalist and dedicated musician she has asked two fine young guitar players to join her for a set that promises to be lively and full of fun.\n\nMarilza Gouvea (voc) Marcio Mattos (cello) Adrian Northover (sax)\nThe three musicians playing the second set of the day should need no introduction to anyone who has been following the London free improvisation scene over the years. All are highly regarded in their own right and also as contributors to many of the capital’s better known bands like The LIO\, The Bohman Brothers and The Horse Collective. They are here to celebrate the release of their debut CD as a trio\, so why not hear them live and then pick up a copy at a special concert price? Elegant and poised\, a music of directness and nuance.\nJean-Jacques Duerinckx (sax) John Russell (gtr) Matthieu Safatly (cello)\nDuerinckx and Russell have been collaborators for a couple of years\, notably in projects led by Jean-Michel Van Schouwburg and also in Russell’s Quaqua groups. They came together again last year to form this trio with Safatly for a well received debut at the Ars Musica festival in Brussels. Their music is one of delicacy and deep listening\, fine detail and intimacy coupled with an honest intensity.\n\n\n\n‘Good atmosphere. Good music played by good musicians. I can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon!’ George Coote\n\n

SUMMARY:KIN Trio featuring Elias Stemeseder
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nFrancesco Diodati (IT) - guitar\n\nDan Kinzelman (USA) – sax\, clarinet\n\nElias Stemeseder (A) - piano\n\nElias Stemeseder\, at just 26\, is already for 4 years a member of the band of drummer Jim Black.  Bold musical explorers: their combined ages may not even total 100\, but they already have class and experience which won’t disappoint you\, and create something new and surprising every time they take to the stage. ‘Sublime and angular lines [...] They pick up each other’s phrases and stroll dreamily with them’ Alison Bentley (Londonjazz)\n\n‘Picture throwing a pebble into the water\,’ says the trio when speaking of their music\, ‘the surface ripples\, and you follow them even if you don’t know where they’ll lead until you reach an unknown destination. You’re suspended in the air\, stuck in a limbo until you’re suddenly plucked out of it.’ The group plays original compositions but also interprets Nirvana\, and their lyrics are evocative\, looking for an overall\, refined and personal sound\, favouring simple melodies and underlining small details. ‘We chose ‘Kin’ as a name because that’s what we are. A musical brotherhood unites us.’\n\nElias Stemeseder (1990) currently lives in New York and is the new Jazz piano revelation from Austria. He has already played at the Vortex with Phillip Gropper's Philm. He is now a regular member of the trio of Jim Black. "An impressive improviser taking his cues from Paul Bley and Keith Jarrett" (Jazzwise)\n\nFrancesco Diodati is a top-notch guitarist in new European contemporary jazz\, and is already playing in the band of trumpeter Enrico Rava; Dan Kinzelman\, an American living in Italy\, has become an international sax star. Bold musical explorers: their combined ages may not even total 100\, but they already have class and experience which won’t disappoint you\, and create something new and surprising every time they take to the stage.  "An impressive imporoviser taking his cues from Paul Bley and Keith Jarrett" (Selwyn Harris\, Jazzwise)\n\nThe original trio came about during the 2016 edition of the Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige. The event loves reaching new heights and exploring uncharted territory. Characterised by beautiful locations and breathtaking landscapes\, its aim is to discover new musical horizons and reach spectacular harmonic summits. The last editions of the Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige have featured renowned musicians from the international scene as well as rising stars from all over the world. The buzzwords favoured by musicians and organisers in the last years have been ‘unknown’\, ‘unheard’ and ‘unexpected’.\n\nThat’s how this group was born\, with its distinctive swaying between meditative and evocative moments\, peppered by tenser passages\, and the three take the expressive possibilities of their respective instruments to the extreme\, running after and overlapping each other’s sounds to create an oneiric whole you awaken from only at the end of the concert.\n‘Sublime and angular lines [...] They pick up each other’s phrases and stroll dreamily with them’ Alison Bentley\n\nPresented by Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige.\nEach year\, this festival\, held at the beginning of July\, focusses on a particular country in Europe. Centred around Bolzano\, it brings contemporary jazz to towns and villages  - and even mountain refuges - in this area in the heart of the Dolomites. For 2017\, the theme is Benelux. In 2015\, for example\, the theme of UK was curated by Kit Downes and Ruth Goller. It is possibly one of the most heart-warming festivals to encourage love and pleasure of this music.\nhttps://www.suedtiroljazzfestival.com/\n\n \n\nPhoto by  Tim Dickeson\n\n\n\n
