DESCRIPTION:Now in its seventh year together the Alex Merritt Quartet (Alex on saxophone\, John Turville on piano\, Sam Lasserson on bass\, Jeff Williams on drums) has developed a unique and exciting group sound and approach that can be\nclearly heard whether the band are playing Alex's original material or standards.\n\nThis gig builds on the success of their debut album Anatta that was\nlaunched at the Vortex in december '15. The album received fantastic\nreviews being described by John Fordham as "A promising jazz debut of\nstriking quality" and Marlbank's Stephen Graham as "..one of the best\nUK jazz recordings I’ve heard this year".\n\nhttps://youtu.be/cLw5_rv-EM8\n\nAlex is excited to return to the club with a set that will blend new\noriginal music written over the last year with choice jazz standards\nand possibly even some selections from Anatta also.
