SUMMARY:Mind Games presented by Arcola Theatre
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nHow do you survive in the World? How do you survive in the Labyrinth?\n\nMind Games is a unique community\, performance-based installation investigating personal and social responses to Mental Health and Wellbeing. Across two performance and installation zones that will activate Gillett Square in Dalston\, join with a cast of over 20 performers for an experience unlike anything you have seen\, heard or felt before…\n\nPart One: The World / across the Square pop-up and walk-around performances and participatory activations will explore how to promote and maintain mental health and wellbeing in an increasingly disconnected world. Maybe it’s not about the length of time you have known someone\, but in that connection being seen\, heard and valued…\n\nPart Two: The Labyrinth /  in small groups you are invited to enter the Labyrinth. Follow your guide as they make the journey through the process of accessing help\, and aid them to navigate the prejudices and challenges of ‘getting better’. If the point of a maze is to find the centre\, the point of a labyrinth is to find your centre…\n(This experience is partly delivered via audio headsets which will be provided – a BSL interpreted tour slot is available. See below for full access guidance.)\n\nBoth performance spaces run from 2-5pm on Saturday 2nd September and 10-1pm AND 2-5pm on Sunday 3rd September 2017. \n\nAttendance is FREE but due to the nature of the Labyrinth\, spaces are limited and advance booking is recommended. \n\nRecommended for all ages\, however\, the Labyrinth installation is restricted to audiences 14+ only.\n\n \n\n\n\nAccess: There is step-free access to Gillett Square. No disabled toilet facilities are available on-site.\n\nUnfortunately\, due to the nature of the Labyrinth installation\, there is no wheelchair access to this element of the performance.\n\nA BSL interpreted tour of The Labyrinth installation will be held on Sunday 3rd September starting at 12noon. A BSL interpreter is also available before this tour to support members of the Deaf community to experience the wider activity in the square. Pre-booking for this tour is required\, please contact nick@arcolatheatre.com\n\nThe minimum age to experience the Labyrinth installation is 14+\, although younger children are welcome to experience the performances and activations in the wider square.\n\nCancellation/ Wet Weather: As this is an outdoor event\, we are weather dependent. We would only expect significant bad weather to hault the performances. Decisions to cancel or postpone the event will be made between Arcola and HCD on the day. In the event of a cancellation\, an announcement will be made on site\, and on Arcola Theatre website and social media.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCast\n\n\n\nThe World\nOladele Oguntayo Oladeji\, Michelle Hanks\, Heather Qualtrough\, Sedef Hekimgil\, Nicole Hall\, Onyeka Michelle Akpata\, Nicola Clements\, Gaynor Smith\, Aniya Savage\n\n\nThe Labyrinth\nAlyx Stone\, Lolade Ajala\, Pete O'Shea\, Lesley Ambler\, Tasmine Airey\, Isabelle von Maltzan\, Vanessa Stevens\, Tasnim Siddiqa Amin\, Mark Thornhill\, Tina Mouzourides\, Lily Joseph\, Karen Dunne and Sasha Bond\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDirection\nNick Connaughton\n\n\nWriter - The Labyrinth\nEmma Dennis-Edwards\n\n\nDesigner\nAlex Berry\n\n\nSound Designer\nKirsty Gillmore\n\n\nChoreographer\nKirsty Davide\n\n\nAssistant Directors - The Labyrinth\nHannah Ali and Matthew Hobbs\n\n\nProduction and Technical Manager\nGeoff Hense\n\n\nTechnical Supervisor\nPenny Rischmiller\n\n\nTechnical Support\nPaul Kiddle\n\n\nSteering Group\nDr Peter MacRae\,Dr Thana Balamurali\, Dr Hannah Ali and Matthew Hobbs\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
