He renews his partnership with saxophonist Jean Toussaint\, former Jazz Messenger; and Austrian trombonist Paul Zauner\, collaborator with many ranging from Gregory Porter through to Dave Liebman and David Murray.\n\nLightsey is one of the last of the great Detroit-born musicians\, a heritage that included Hank Jones and Tommy Flanagan\, he brings the quality and style of the Village Vanguard to the Vortex.\n\nhttps://youtu.be/Jv6hrZl8Nh4\n\nThe rest of the band is Kirk's preferred London partnership: Steve Watts (bass)\, Dave Wickens (drums)\n\n-----------------------------------------------------------------------------\n\nCALUM GOURLAY BIG BAND (STARTING AT 8 P.M.)\n\nCalum Gourlay's Big Band is an all-star line-up of the new generations of jazz musicians in London. Calum himself is one of the most in-demand young bassists\, to be heard regularly in Thelonious and with Tommy Smith\, but also has been part of the Mercury-nominated Kit Downes Trio.\n\nThe Big Band plays new arrangements of standards and also originals by Gourlay.
