DESCRIPTION:Zhenya Strigalev curates a new project bringing attention to the jazz instrument called "trumpet". The night will consists of two bands ("Things") each of them consists with two trumpets\, fully expressing the diversity of the instrument and the fine range of talent in this country. First "Thing" is led by now much-talked about\, award-winning trumpeter Laura Jurd. The Second "Thing" is led by acclaimed alto saxophonist Zhenya Strigalev. Expect new original music you never heard before plus a collective gala extravaganza at the end of the concert where both "Things" will join together. The line up is:\n\nFirst "Thing":\nChris Batchelor - trumpet\nLaura Jurd - trumpet\nTom Herbert - double bass\nCorrie Dick - drums\n\nSecond "Thing":\nZhenya Strigalev - alto sax\nMiguel Gorodi - trumpet\nQuentin Collins - trumpet\nElliot Galvin - piano\nFerg Ireland - double bass\nJon Scott - drums\n\nBorn in St Petersburg Zhenya Strigalev took up the saxophone as a teenager\, at age 17 winning “The Best Saxophonist" award in a well known St. Petersburg jazz competition. Soon after he began performing at many leading European\, Russian\, and UK Festivals\, as well as starting to tour internationally. Since graduating from London’s prestigious Royal Academy of Music\, Zhenya has cut a dynamic path between the London and New York jazz scenes. He’s worked with some of today’s most forward thinking musicians including Eric Harland\, Ambrose Akinmusire\, Tim Lefebvre\, Chris "Daddy" Dave\, Alex Sipiagin\, William Parker\, Aaron Parks\, Joseph "Foley" McCreary from Miles Davis fame\, Larry Grenadier\, Nasheet Waites and appeared at many prestigious jazz festivals and concert venues.
