SUMMARY:NYJC & Hackney Youth Jazz Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:\n\nVortex - In The Changes\, NYJC and Hackney Music Service present a series of Saturday concerts featuring the bright stars of tomorrow's jazz.\nThe National Youth Jazz Collective is a vibrant National Youth Music Organisation that supports the creative and educational needs of the young jazz musician. NYJC focuses on small group improvisation and creates a pathway of progression designed to support young jazz musicians from beginner to emerging professionals. \n\nNYJC exists to advance the skills of young musicians who show the aptitude and desire to become great jazz players. We inspire them to develop their own distinctive flair and musical imagination\, making innovative music for each new generation.\n\n\nEach year the NYJC runs a summer school where participants are hand selected from across the UK to form small ensembles led and mentored by some of the UK's finest jazz musicians. \n\n\n\n\nEach month will also feature support from one of Hackney's own outstanding youth ensembles - starting with the Hackney Music Service big band led by local legend Gerry Hunt.\n\nIn The Changes is a new community outreach\, learning and participation programme based in the Vortex Jazz Club and funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
