SUMMARY:MOPOMOSO Presents... The Afternoon Sessions
DESCRIPTION:Line Up\nPHIL DURRANT (mandolin) / MARTIN VISHNICK (guitar) duo\n\nMandolin and guitar are a traditional pairing in other musical fields but virtually unknown in the world of free improvisation so this duo is quite a treat. They first met at the Skronk April event in 2017 and it became rapidly apparent that they shared common interests in extended techniques and were influenced in their acoustic playing by a love of electronic music. They have have since become a fixture\, performing at Flim Flam\, Hundred Years Gallery\, The Horse @Iklectik\, SkronkFest and as part of larger groups at Mopomoso and Arch1. Poised and intricate playing from two dedicated and talented musicians.\n\nCATH ROBERTS (sax) / ALEX WARD (clarinet-guitar) duo\n\nWorld class clarinet player Alex Ward is joined by Sloth Racket and Lume luminary Cath Roberts on baritone saxophone for a set that should be full of fireworks. Alex will also be playing electric guitar so we can expect a broad sonic canvas with many twists and turns. Alex Ward's solo CD LEX WARD’S SOLO CD ‘PROPRIOCEPTION’ is released on THE WEEKERTOFT LABEL https://weekertoft.com/weekertoft-6/\n‘LUST ROLLERS’ - MARK BROWNE (sax and collected objects) / DAN GREGORY (junk- guitar remnants) plus special guest IAN MCGOWAN (trumpet-guitar) trio\nPriding themselves on once being described as a meeting between the dead Franz Liszt and the Dadaists\, Lust Rollers look to provide a head on collision between the virtuosic and the openly inept. Improvised Music utilising elements of absurd theatre\, this is a visual group whose instrumentation encompasses large gongs\, glass\, bones and homemade instruments exemplifying an overtly domestic nature. For this concert they are joined by the extraordinary talent of Ian MacGowan on trumpet and guitar\n+\n\nMopomso is run entirely by volunteers and\, among other things\, has continued to host the UK’s longest running concert series dedicated to freely improvised music. We believe that this music offers a unique chance for audience and musicians to share the creative moment together and will\, by its very nature\, provide a unique musical experience for all concerned.\n\n

SUMMARY:Let Spin
DESCRIPTION:Moss Freed - guitar\nChris Williams - alto\nFinlay Panter - drums\nLiran Donin - bass.\n \n\nDescribed by the Guardian as 'an electrifying live band whose grooves could wake the dead'\, Let Spin are known for morphing creative individuality into an idiosyncratic and cohesive group sound.\n\nFormed in 2013 as a happy accident\, Let Spin have toured extensively ever since\, playing many of Europe's top venues and festivals\, and gaining support from BBC Radio 3 and BBC 6Music on several occasions. Their eponymous debut was released in 2014 with a follow up\, Let Go\, released in 2015\, and a third record on the way. The band is best defined by its collective spirit that explores both individual and group aesthetics in composition and performance\, alongside a group empathy that gives them a rare ability to move effortlessly between thrashy punk\, wistful reflection and more complex\, quirky territory.\n\n \n\n“An original identity that promises to be one of UK jazz’s best… A significant new force” - Guardian\n\n“British Punk Jazz with a wiry electrical crackle” - Uncut\n\n“A prog-jazz supergroup” - Jazzwise\n\n"Eclectic\, impassioned and mind-blowing"  - London Jazz\n\n[embed]https://youtu.be/FPeLAyLc6_g[/embed]\n\n \n\n
