DESCRIPTION:We are celebrating David Mossman the founder of the Vortex over 24 hours with a party/memorial about his legacy! Some of the musicians confirmed include Sarah Jane Morris\, Mark Hewins\, Annie Whitehead\, Jennifer Maidman\, Hans Koller\, Martin Speake\, Paul Clarvis\, Alcyona Mick\, Sonia Slany\, Estelle Kokot\, Barry Green\, Clark Tracey\, Penny Rimbaud\, Kate Shortt\, Gee Vaucher\, Roy Dodds\, Dylan Bates\, John Russell\, James Allsopp and more who will just come or are confirming over the next days.\n\nThe first part will start on Friday at 6 p.m. (note early starting time.) Though there is no formal finish.\n\nThe second starts on Saturday at 2 p.m.\n\nWe shall be raising money for a new David Mossman Fund. If you wish to donate separately\, let us know. As the money is going via our Vortex Foundation charity\, it will be gift aided.\n\nThe seating is unreserved\, and the event will take place both upstairs and downstairs. DESCRIPTION:Three giants of British jazz combine for a very special performance. Guaranteed to be unforgettable!\n\n \n\n John Parricelli began his career as a guitarist in 1982 and was one of the founding members of the British big band Loose Tubes\, with whom he recorded three albums. He has worked with Annie Whitehead\, Kenny Wheeler\, Norma Winstone\, Lee Konitz\, Paul Motian\, Tim Whitehead\, Chris Laurence\, Eddie Parker\, Peter Erskine\, Vince Mendoza\, Mark Lockheart\, Julian Argüelles\, Iain Ballamy's Acme\, Mark Lockheart Quartet\, Andy Sheppard\, Gerard Presencer\, Colin Towns\, Martin Speake Quintet and Jazz singer Stacey Kent among others.\n\nNorma Winstone has worked with many major European musicians and visiting Americans\, as well as with most of her peers in British jazz\, including Garrick\, John Surman\, Michael Gibbs\, Mike Westbrook and her former husband\, the pianist John Taylor. With Taylor and trumpeter Kenny Wheeler she performed and recorded three albums for ECM as a member of the trio Azimuth between 1977 and 1980; their CD How It Was Then… Never Again was given four stars by DownBeat magazine. In addition\, she made an album with the American pianist Jimmy Rowles (Well Kept Secret\, 1993). In February 2018\, Winstone released Descansado: Songs for Films\, a collection which AllMusic described as "an unusual and provocative album. She was awarded an MBE in 2007.\n\nHuw Warren has played and collaborated with an astounding number of musicians during his career\, including Lleuwen Steffan\, Mark Feldman\, Maria Pia de Vito\, Peter Herbert\, Joanna MacGregor\, Theo Bleckmann\, Pamela Thorby\, Erik Truffaz\, Gabriele Mirabassi\, Ralph Towner\, R.A. Ramamani\, Kenny Wheeler\, Loose Tubes\, Steve Arguelles\, Julian Arguelles\, Billy Jenkins\, John Parricelli\, John Etheridge\, Christine Tobin\, Tim Garland\, Scott Stroman\, Antonio Forcione\, Brian Abrahams\, Billy Bragg\, Elvis Costello\, Eddi Reader\, Echobelly\, Christine Collister\, and the Audio Bullys to name but a few\, and his work is consistently far-ranging and varied.
