SUMMARY:The Shape of Jazz To Come presents: Ife Ogunjobi Band + George Winstone Trio
DESCRIPTION:Supported by the Dave Holland - Evan Parker Fund\n\nFirst set 8:30pm - 9.40\nIfe Ogunjobi\nIfe Ogunjobi - Trumpet\nZoe Pascal - Drums\nSeth Tackerberry - Bass\nDeschanel Gordon - Piano\n.....\n\nThe unique playing style of trumpeter and arranger Ife Ogunjobi is an amalgamation of the Freddie Hubbard/ Clifford Brown approach. Ife merges the past legends' style with some of his modern influences of today such as Marquis Hill\, Nicholas Payton and Keyon Harrold. During his career he has performed and recorded with a plethora of artists across several genres. These include Moses Boyd\, Solange Knowles\, Wande Coal\, Jason Moran\, The Compozers\, Dele Sosimi and Jon Cleary. As Ife continues his studies at the Royal Academy of Music he is rapidly establishing himself as a key player within the london jazz scene.\nSecond set: 9:50 - 11.10\nGeorge Winstone Trio\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGeorge Winstone - Alto Saxophone\nTom Farmer - Double Bass\nJamie Murray - Drums\n\n\n............\n\n\n\n\nAfter the release of his EP 'Outer Spaces" last year\, wanting to delve further into the potential for spontaneity and connection on the bandstand\, George Winstone strips down his usual band to present something more raw. Featuring the talents of Tom Farmer and Jamie Murray\, this trio gets to work exploring its band members compositions and delving into standards from the jazz tradition. Expect intensity\, virtuosity and sensitivity as these three musicians come together to create new music.\n\n"Winstone is undoubtedly a future star in the making". - allaboutjazz.com\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[bandcamp width=100% height=42 album=3243160167 size=small bgcol=ffffff linkcol=0687f5]
