James' unique musical voice features detailed counterpoint\, epic melodies\, rhythmic grooves from the African diaspora and adventurous improvisation\, and has been recognised with the 2018 Eddie Harvey Award for Jazz Arranging\, as well as a PRS Foundation-sponsored composer-in-residence collaboration with the Sage Gateshead's Jambone ensemble.
