DESCRIPTION:hymn is a group from Norwich. They have a core trio of Chris Dowding (trumpets & electronics)\, George McKay (double bass) and David Ross (percussion & electronics). They play spacious improvisations informed by simple composed material. They have performed at The Vortex Jazz Club\, St. Paul's Sessions and Camouflage.\n\nThey also play with guests and in improvised configurations. The debut hymn album is released on Confront Recordings in June 2019\, and the album features an improvised configuration of Chris\, David and Sylvia Hallett (violin & electronic). This is the line-up that will appear at Downstairs at The Vortex on 28th June.\n\nThe album features ethereal and electronic textures from two live gigs\, at the Camouflage contemporary jazz night in Norwich and at St. Paul's Sessions in London. June 2019 sees hymn touring around the UK\, including with an extended hymn line-up in Norwich. Do come along for some explorative music-making..!\n\n\n

A project that combines their mutual interest for composing music which draws influences from the Greek Folk tradition whilst involves through free improvisation.\n A diverse rhythmic language and a vast variety of sonic possibilities are brought into compositions\, merged with arrangements of folk tunes.
