DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to have Sam Leak\, one of the great pianists here\, to take the gig tonight in a band including Alex Hitchcock and James Copus.\n\nLeak is a London-based Jazz pianist was described by JazzFM’s Helen Mayhew as ‘One of the brightest stars in the Jazz piano galaxy\, a heavenly improviser\, and a brilliant prospect for the future.’ His album “Aquarium” was one of MOJO Magazine’s ‘Top Ten International Releases of the Year.’\n\nSam has given pleasure to audiences in a variety of line-ups over the years. He is able to conjure up the joy and emotion typified by Paul Bley and Keith Jarrett but bring a contemporary slant.\n\nWhether in trio format\, with his band Aquarium or in duo wth  Dan Tepfer\, he never ceases to amaze.\n\n"The Royal Academy of Music's jazz programme has produced a remarkable crop of newcomers in recent times: notably the Mercury-nominated pianists Gwilym Simcock and Kit Downes.
