DESCRIPTION:Two big bands for one: The LJO welcomes the award-winning Guildhall Jazz Orchestra\, featuring some of the brightest young talents on the scene\, playing music by former LJO members Stan Sulzmann and Nikki Iies alongside classics by Thad Jones.  Both bands are directed by Scott Stroman.\n\n \n\nThe London Jazz Orchestra Vortex Sessions\, at 28 years old\, is London’s longest jazz residency. Under the direction of Scott Stroman\, the band seems to go from strength to strength\, attracting London’s top players and writers from Kenny Wheeler and John Taylor in the early days to the exciting current lineup featured in the band today.

DESCRIPTION:Oxjam is taking over Hackney once again!\n\nJoin us on the 13th of October at the Vortex Jazz Club for a night of music\, fundraising and much more!\n\nLine up:\n\nAmyra + special guest\n\nGeorgia Copeland & Nadia Latoya\n\nNikita Bassi\n\nMichelle O. Tiwo\n\nOma. B (DJ)\n\nGina Southgate (live painting)\n\nOxjam Hackney is run entirely by volunteers\, and all proceeds we raise from ticket sales and fundraising go directly to support Oxfam’s work. Since the first Oxjam in 2006\, more than 60\,000 musicians have played to over 1.5 million people at over 5000 Oxjam events nationwide. Oxjam has raised more than £2.5 million in total for Oxfam: enough to feed 357\,140 families; buy 100\,000 goats or provide safe water for 1\,500 schools.\n\nLed by an all-female management team\, this year Oxjam Hackney is working to correct the gender inequality prevalent in UK festival line-ups by showcasing female\, trans and non-binary artists only.
