SUMMARY:Mopomoso
DESCRIPTION:This month's line up:\n\nOlie Brice (bass) / Rachel Musson (sax) duo\n+\nJohn Jasnoch (12 string guitar\, mandolin) / Gillian Whitely (violin\, accordion\, hurdy-gurdy\, voice) / Geoff Bright (soprano and bass saxophones\, voice) trio\n+\nIsidora Edwards (cello) / John Russell (guitar) duo\n\nAn afternoon in the company of some amazing improvisors illustrating three very different approaches to small group playing. With backgrounds and influences stretching from Country and Western through Jazz\, Contemporary Classical\, the Avant Garde and Folk musics\, join the musicians in taking your ears on a journey of sonic discovery. There are no safety nets and no guarantees except to say that as the music is freely improvised we know you won”t have heard it before.\n\nJohn Russell's regular Mopomoso (MOdernism\, POstMOdernism\, SO what) have been running for 25 years and the show within the London Jazz Festival is always extra special.\n\n \n\n[embed]https://youtu.be/5H9nSPbF4Zk[/embed]\n\n

SUMMARY:Rio Cinema: LED BIB + Rebecca Salter/Max de Wardener
DESCRIPTION:The only London show of It’s Morning\, a film and live music collaboration featuring Mercury-nominated band Led Bib\, combines film\, song and improvisation to full cinematic effect.\n\nLed Bib\, known for their boundary stretching rock and jazz\, that garnered them a Mercury Prize nomination and a fistful of prestigious awards\, set off last year in the hull of a boat in east London\, together with lyricists and songwriters to create a suite of songs.\n\nEmerging from their underwater session\, elements of their groovy\, heavy\, improvised sound remained\, but they were now set against fragile vocals and poignant lyrics\, taking them into a much gentler song world. The project also resulted in a collaboration with US based film-maker Dylan Pecora\, who created a movie to the entire record.\n\nLive\, the singers\, film and instrumentalists combine into a multimedia technicolour performance\, where the band plays live to the film and VJ Oli Chilton manipulates the movie\, as the band expands the material in real time\, improvising visually and musically. This London Jazz Festival show is the London premiere and album launch for this one off performance -not to be missed.\n\nSharron Fortnam – vocals\n\nChris Williams – saxophone\n\nPete Grogan – saxophone\n\nElliot Galvin – keyboard\n\nLiran Donin – bass\n\nMark Holub - drums\n\nwww.ledbib.com\n\nThe other film is 'Picture the Light' by Rebecca Salter RA with music by Max de Wardener. Rebecca Salter RA is currently Keeper of the RA Schools. She has had numerous exhibitions in London\, New York and elsewhere. Max de Wardener is a composer and musician\, with commissions for many films and for the LSO among others.\n\nhttps://youtu.be/namtPnn7iZo\n\nMore about Picture the Light (with an extract of the film)\n\nhttps://www.royalacademy.org.uk/article/how-i-made-it-rebecca-salter
