DESCRIPTION:In its long history the LJO's piano chair has been filled by some of the greatest names in jazz\, beginning with the magnificent John Taylor. December's session features Taylor's Quatorze suite plus music by his successors Pete Saberton\, Nikki Iles\, and Alcyona Mick.\n\nThe London Jazz Orchestra Vortex Sessions\, at 28 years old\, is London’s longest jazz residency. Under the direction of Scott Stroman\, the band seems to go from strength to strength\, attracting London’s top players and writers from Kenny Wheeler and John Taylor in the early days to the exciting current lineup featured in the band today.\n\n

She is a well-known name on the\nLondon scene – her keyboard skills much in demand – currently involved with a variety of\nmusical projects including Liran Donin's 1000 Boats\, Kinkajous\, Teotima\, Rosie Turton and\nJamie Leeming.\nHidden Seas – composed entirely by Argirò – departs from the more traditional sound of\nher debut and sees her turning to synths and electronics and the introduction of vocals.\nAccompanying Argirò on piano and electronics is a brilliant line up including singer Leïla Martial\,\nSam Rapley (Tenor Sax/Clarinet)\, Tal Janes (Guitar/Effects)\, Andrea Di Biase (Double Bass)\nand Gaspar Sena (Drums).\n\nHidden Seas by Maria Chiara Argirò
